Information We Collect
Newsletter subscriptions
When you subscribe to the SoWashCo Parents newsletter, we collect your email address.
Our newsletter is managed through MailPoet. MailPoet also records information associated with a subscription, including the date, signup source, IP address, subscription status, email-delivery information, and engagement information such as email opens and link clicks.
We use this information to:
- Send newsletters and important site updates
- Manage and document newsletter subscriptions
- Measure whether newsletters are being delivered and used
- Protect the newsletter system from spam and abuse
We do not sell personal information or share subscriber information for third-party marketing.
Communications with us
If you email SoWashCo Parents, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use that information to respond to questions, review corrections or content suggestions, and maintain appropriate records of our correspondence.
If you contact us through a form, we collect the information you submit. The form may also process technical information needed to prevent spam and abuse.
Please do not send confidential or highly sensitive personal information by email or form.

Like most websites, our hosting provider and WordPress-related services may automatically receive technical information when you visit the site. This may include:

Newsletter Unsubscribing and Retention
Every SoWashCo Parents newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
When a subscriber uses that link, MailPoet changes the subscriber’s status to “Unsubscribed,” removes the subscriber from active mailing lists, and stops sending future newsletters.
MailPoet retains the email address and related subscription record in an unsubscribed status. Keeping this suppression record helps us honor the unsubscribe request and avoid accidentally sending additional messages. A subscriber may request permanent deletion or anonymization by emailing hello@sowashcoparents.com.
Other subscriber information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the newsletter, document consent, honor unsubscribe requests, maintain security, and comply with applicable obligations.

Cookies and Related Technologies
The site and services supporting it may use cookies or similar technologies for essential site operation, security, subscription forms, preferences, and measurement of email or site performance.

- Newsletter subscriptions and email delivery
- Spam and abuse prevention

These providers process information to perform services on our behalf and are not authorized by us to use subscriber information for unrelated marketing.

Children’s Privacy
SoWashCo Parents provides information for parents, guardians, and other adult community members. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact hello@sowashcoparents.com so that we can review and, when appropriate, delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information handled through the site. No website, email service, or method of electronic storage can guarantee complete security.
